Mi-Fone to launch new range of smartphones into the Nigerian market

22 May 2014 Mi-Fone, the first African mobile device brand has announced that it will launch its new range of smartphones into the Nigerian market.

The phones, which are on the Android platform, come pre-loaded with Nigerian apps such as taxi app -EasyTaxi, music blog app  Singuu, music upload service app PureSolo and social media app 360Nobs.

The phones will also be launching the first black emoticons Oju; which we introduced to you a little while ago

As a reminder, the Oju range features the first black emoticons. “Oju” means “faces” in the Yoruba language from Nigeria and all 65 Afro faces will also be revealed at the launch.

Oju has recorded over 22000 downloads in just 4 days, with the vast majority of those downloads originating from the United States.

The emoticons are designed to be used across all Android platforms, and will soon be available on IOS and other platforms.

In addition, mi-Fone has announced that a portion of all licencing fees generated by Oju will be donated to the Mi-Oju Children’s Foundation. The Foundation seeks to empower and educate children across Africa through ICT
