McMillan wins third extreme sailing championship title

Dec 16, 2015 Britain’s Leigh McMillan recently continued his dominance of the 2015 Extreme Sailing season by winning the final double point race in Sydney to claim his third championship title.

McMillan and his crew of Nasser Al Mashari, Pete Greenhalgh, Sarah Ayton and Ed Smyth secured their fifth consecutive win this season following successes in Cardiff, Hamburg, St Petersburg and Istanbul.

Speaking after his victory, McMillan said he was delighted with the win.

“Get the sails down, get ashore and start the celebration. We’ve got a lot to celebrate, you know three series wins, five wins on the trot with this event and the end of an era for our boat, for our team for now – it won’t be forever but for now but you know we’ve got some new stuff coming next year so it’s been absolutely awesome and you know just absolutely hats off to everyone involved,”
