Biddings for 2022 Commonwealth Games: South Africa enters the draw

08 Apr 2014 The Zambezian tells us that the city of Durban has formally declared its intention to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The Commonwealth Games federation said that the city of Edmonton in Canada had also put in a bid.
Final bids are to be lodged by March 2015 and the federation will vote on the host city in September 2015.

South Africa hosted the World Cup in 2010, and if it wins the bid, the Commonwealth Games will be the first major multi-sport event in the country.
However, this bid could rule out a South African candidacy for the 2024 Olympics so we will be waiting with bated breath.
