Nollywood’s most anticipated sequel hits cinemas on December 15
Lagos, 15 November 2017 – Eager moviegoers are excited that the long wait for the sequel to Nigeria’s biggest ever movie, The Wedding Party is almost over. With only one month to go, fans are hoping to be among the first to snag tickets on opening weekend.
Outside of Nigeria, the ELFIKE Film Collective, a partnership between EbonyLife Films, FilmOne Distribution, Inkblot Productions and Koga Studios, is gearing up for worldwide release including key markets such as the UK, USA, Canada, east Africa, South Africa and francophone African countries.
Since October, audiences have been teased with captivating posters and trailers of the film. Online chatter on a range of social media platforms has been hotly speculating about various plotlines and the fate of different characters. Last Friday, tables at the Grand World Premiere on 10th December were sold out – a first for a movie premiere in Nigeria.
According to Moses Babatope, COO, FilmOne Distribution, the response to the full-length trailer has been phenomenal. “In under 2 weeks, our theatrical trailer has garnered over 300,000 views and was trending for several days. This augurs well for the film’s international prospects.”
Mo Abudu, CEO, EbonyLife Films, is happy about the mounting anticipation for the film. “The Wedding Party 2 is almost ready. We’re putting the finishing touches to what we believe is a better movie than the original. With just a few weeks to go, I’m dying to see how people react,” she said.
Last year, getting tickets was extremely difficult during the Christmas holidays and beyond. Fans are encouraged to book tickets as soon as they are available at their local cinema.
