New Episode of Stephen Keshi vs NFF
14th Aug 2014 Now guys, remember when we told you that Stephen Keshi was on the verge of signing a new contract according to the NFF well, he’s not. Guys this story has got more twists than…well…than a telenovela.
So, the new gist is that Stephen Keshi’s team has announced that the Coach will not accept what they have termed a “slave contract”, insisting than he is worth much much more than the measly 5 million naira he is being offered. For those of you unsure of the value of that sum – about $31, 000.
His media assistant, Emmanuel Ado and lawyer Francis Kozah, following what was obviously a very unsatisfactory meeting with the NFF have these very emphatic statements, made to Goal.com, to their credit
“We are ready for give and take, but not a slave contract. We will not sign a slave contract that does not take care of [Keshi’s] interest,” he told Goal.com.
And then he added “You media (don’t even know the worth of the coach), I will surprise you. Keshi is bigger than 10 million naira. Keshi is not a 5m or 10m naira coach and he will not sign a contract of such value.
Hmmm…so what does the NFF have to say about this? Well, NFF spokesman Ademola Olajire seems pretty sure that all these details will be ironed out before the Eagles face Rwanda on the 6th of September for their nations cup qualifier.
Still talking to Goal.com, he said “Keshi has not told us anything around 15 million naira; I don’t know where this is coming from. I’m not a part of the small panel put together to speak to him but I know that there’s nothing like 15 million.
And then he added optimistically “But having given us a written expression of interest, Mr Keshi is definitely desirous of retaining the position of head coach of the Super Eagles and will be able to come down to the level of the NFF, realising of course that we are not a multi-billionaire organisation.”
Oh well guys…that’s all we have on this week’s episode, stay tuned for the next episode of…The Coach and His Money…
