Ghana to Host the 2015 West African Regional Mining & Petroleum Forum and Exhibition organized by ECOWAS

1st Oct 2014 Believe it or not, 2015 is just around the corner so it’s not too early to start planning for it. One country starting early is Ghana with the announcement that it is to host the 2015 West African Regional Mining & Petroleum Forum and Exhibition organized by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission in collaboration with the Government of Ghana, under the Ministries of Lands and Natural Resources, and Petroleum and Energy, and the AME Trade Limited

The theme will be “Valorising West Africa’s Mineral & Petroleum Resource through Regional Co-operation”. The forum will take place from the 6th to the 8th of October, in Accra next year and will feature over thirty different conference sessions, workshops and round table talks with experts in the mining and petroleum sectors to discuss issues in the sector

As you can imagine, all the West African countries will have both private and public sector stakeholders present, so we can expect to see guests from Senegal, Nigeria, Mali, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Niger, Togo, Cape Verde, Gambia, Cote d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso and of course Ghana will be in attendance

According to the Commissioner Energy and Mines, ECOWAS Commission, Dr Bangoura Morlaye, the event which is the first of its kind is aimed at developing appropriate mechanisms to achieving equity in the development, management and distribution of the benefits arising from the geo-extractive industry and to provide a platform for thorough value addition through regional association for mutual benefit.
