Egypt’s president visits Saudi Arabia following the recent developments in the country’s government
May 8 , 2015 Saudi Arabia recently had a leadership reorganization, as King Salman appointed his nephew Interior Minister Mohammed bin Nayef crown prince and heir, and his own son, Defence Minister Mohammed bin Salman, deputy crown prince. Following these changes, Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah al Sisi has paid a congratulatory visit to the monarch in Saudi Arabia.
The recent political appointments mean the kingship will pass to a new generation for the first time since 1953, when the throne passed from the founder of the dynasty, King Abdulaziz Ibn Saud, to the first of six of his sons who have held the position since.
Before he reached the country for the third time this year, President Sisi had earlier congratulated the crown prince and deputy crown prince by telephone.
