Cuba, US agree to join efforts in lifting embargo
Oct 12, 2015 Cuban minister of foreign trade and investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz recently sat down with the U.S. secretary of commerce, Penny Pritzker, in Havana. During the meeting, both countries agreed to promote bilateral business cooperation.
The Cuban Minister went on that the decades-long trade ban on Cuba is the main obstacle hindering the two nations’ economic relationship. He then urged the U.S government to adopt policies that will ease the ban.
According to Pritzker, her visit was to explore the trade status and investment environment in Cuba. She also urged Cuba to pursue more flexible economic policies to enable the Cuban enterprises and citizens merge into the international economic system easily.
While in Havana, secretary Pritzker also met with Cuba’s Vice President of the Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas and Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.
