Ronaldo breaks Real Madrid goalscoring record
Oct 23, 2015 Real Madrid recently paid homage to Cristiano Ronaldo as their outright leading scorer even though the official statistics show he has yet to overhaul former Spain striker Raul.
Cristiano Ronaldo overtook Raul’s goal scoring record when he scored his 324th goal in a recent La Liga game at home to Levante.
During the event, Ronaldo said:
“I would never have imagined when I put on this shirt for the first time that I would be the team’s best goal scorer in history and to be able to overcome my friend Raul and disappeared (the late) Alfredo Di Stefano. What can I say? I am very happy.”
Ronaldo, who achieved his feat in 310 matches across seven seasons, also used the opportunity to acknowledge his family, friends and the Spanish media.
“I also want to thank the media present here. I know I have been a little bit of an idiot with them but it is part of my personality. I also want to thank my friends who are here today, my agent Jorge, Enrique and specially my mother and Cristiano who came here wearing white socks as It is appropriate for this occasion.”
