Wayne Rooney scores to win for Manchester United
Nov 06, 2015 Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney recently ended his goal drought after scoring a thumping header in the team’s 1-0 Champions League victory over CSKA Moscow.
Despite dominating possession throughout the encounter, United struggled to break down the resilient Russian defense.
Speaking at a post-match news conference, Manchester United’s coach, Louis Van Gaal said:
“Wayne is Wayne and will always contribute in a game and I am very happy because I put him again in the striker position and he scored,” said van Gaal. “It was a fantastic goal because the preparation was fantastic, the tackle of Marcus Rojo and the pass of Michael Carrick, the cutback of Jessie Lingard and the header of Rooney – it was fantastic. I am happy about the performance of my players but also about the result and the fact that we are top of the group”.
