XI visit is of great significance: Zimbabwean president
Nov 19, 2015 Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe recently described Chinese President Xi Jinping’s upcoming visit as a significance event for Zimbabwe.
President Xi, who is due to visit Zimbabwe in December, will be the second Chinese head of state to visit Zimbabwe since the two countries established diplomatic relations.
During a recent interview, President Mugabe described China as Zimbabwe’s greatest friend in the international community.
“We actually await the visit with very great interest, and when he visits us we shall be discussing some of the projects and programs we would want China to assist us in undertaking. But it’s more than the visit of the Chinese head of state – that is very important to us, yes. We’ll discuss programs of cooperation,”
Mugabe, who is the current rotating chairman of the African Union, said the 6th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation scheduled to be held in South Africa will greatly promote relations between China and Africa.
“Already, there is interaction between China and South Africa, and this time it’ll be China and Africa. And a very great thing indeed,”
