China-Africa relations reach comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership: Chinese president

Dec 09, 2015 Chinese President Xi Jinping recently announced a unanimous consensus reached between him and African leaders to elevate China-Africa relations to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Xi, who proposed the upgrade in a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), made the announcement before the conclusion of the landmark two-day gathering.

According to president Xi, the upgrade will inject fresh impetus to the comprehensive development of China-Africa ties and provide a strong spiritual guide and political guarantee for the two sides to conduct mutually beneficial cooperation.

“First of all, we have reviewed the remarkable achievements FOCAC has reached in the past 15 years and looked into the prospect of further China-Africa cooperation in the future.”

“Secondly, we have approved the Johannesburg Declaration of FOCAC and the FOCAC-Johannesburg action plans (2016-2018).”

“Thirdly, we are determined to push forward the all-round development of China-Africa relationship by taking advantage of the historic opportunities that the development strategies of China and Africa are highly compatible.”

“Fourth, we have exchanged opinions on global and regional issues and decided to strengthen the cooperation and coordination to maintain our mutual interests of China and Africa and the overall interests of developing countries.”

“China will stand with African countries together for the mutual development of China and Africa based on its honest and friendly policy toward Africa and the righteous ideas of morality and profit.”
