Pele's greatness offered at auction
Mar 14, 2016 Triple World Cup soccer winner Pele recently put up about 2,000 items for auction, including his three World Cup medals and a one-of-a-kind Jules Rimet trophy.
According to auctioneers, the exhibit could fetch up to one million dollars.
In his first ever auction of career memorabilia, the Brazilian is selling off his 1,000th goal ball and crown and the jerseys he wore while playing for Brazilian club Santos FC and the New York Cosmos.
Speaking about the auction, Pele:
“These relics can be kept forever and are truly timeless. I’m very happy for amassing such a great collection and achieving all of this. I thank God for being here in good health and talking to you about my life in sports..It gives me great joy to talk about the Jules Rimet trophy. First because I was the only athlete to permanently conquer this trophy as I won three World Cups,”
