45 young Nigerians partake in President Barack Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).
16th June 2014 EL Reports is always happy to shout it from the rooftops when young people do extraordinary things and so you can imagine our great joy when we heard of the 45 young Nigerians selected to be part of the 500 young Africans selected to be President Barack Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).
The Young African Leaders Initiative was initiated in 2010 by President Obama; the participants will enjoy intensive courses for 6 weeks and then participate in a Presidential Summit convened by President Obama in Washington DC.
The Young African Leaders Initiative offers many benefits for fellows such as the opportunity to access small grants which will be awarded by the US African Development Foundation.
Some of the fellows will also get to stay back in the US to be part of an additional eight-week internship with American NGOs, private and government organisations.
Of course they will get opportunities for networking, ongoing professional development and funding.
