African Teams at the Ongoing FIFA Under 20 Womens World Cup.

14th Aug 2014 Let’s start off with a look at the FIFA Under 20 Womens World Cup which kicked off in Edmonton Canada on the 5th of August.

Our African teams didn’t go to Canada to play. Nigeria is holding strong so far at the top of the Group C table after drawing against Mexico and then walloping Korea in their second game. The game was a record breaker as Courtney Dike scored the fastest goal in the history of FIFA women’s tournaments in the 18th second to give Nigeria an early lead.

For their final match against England,

Ghana started out with a victory over hosts Canada but faced a hard time of it against Korea DPR with a crushing 3 – 0 loss. The girls didn’t up though, and they beat Finland 2 – 1 in their last group game. Sadly, this was too little too late as they have been eliminated on goal difference.
