African Teams at the Ongoing FIFA Under 20 Womens World Cup.

14th Aug 2014 Let’s start off with a look at the FIFA Under 20 Womens World Cup which kicked off in Edmonton Canada on the 5^th of August.

Our African teams didn’t go to Canada to play. Nigeria is holding strong so far at the top of the Group C table after drawing against Mexico and then walloping Korea in their second game. The game was a record breaker as Courtney Dike scored the fastest goal in the history of FIFA women’s tournaments in the 18^th second to give Nigeria an early lead.

For their final match against England,

Ghana started out with a victory over hosts Canada but faced a hard time of it against Korea DPR with a crushing 3 – 0 loss. The girls didn’t up though, and they beat Finland 2 – 1 in their last group game. Sadly, this was too little too late as they have been eliminated on goal difference.
