Annual Davos economic forum to focus on 4th industrial revolution

Jan 18, 2016 Klaus Schwab, founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum recently revealed that the 46th installment of the annual meeting will be focused on the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The meeting, which aims to build a platform for cooperation between the public and private sectors, will feature three main topics.

The agendas will include the goal of sustainable development, the fourth industrial revolution and the global security situation, economic and social development.

Speaking at a press conference, Schwab said:

“We feel we are not yet prepared sufficiently for this fourth industrial revolution, which will come over us like a tsunami, which will change whole systems,”

During the meeting, participants will discuss 10 global challenges ranging from agriculture and food safety to economic growth and social inclusion down to the future of the Internet and long-term investment.

“The world has become interconnected. It’s not very comfortable to think always in terms of those complexities. The world has a tendency to simplify issues. But we just want to find this simplification which may lead to wrong conclusions and solutions, so our role in Davos, which is very different from what else happening usually in the world, is to take a systemic approach,”

The 2016 edition of the forum is expecting over 2,500 participants from over 100 countries. More than 40 heads of state and senior government officials will be in attendance as well as some 1,500 business leaders.
