Sep 8, 2015 Russian spaceship, Soyuz TMA-18M recently delivered a three-man international crew to the International Space Station. The crew arrived one day behind schedule as they had to maneuver their way around space debris.
The Soyuz TMA-18M took off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, with Russian Commander Sergei Volkov, Kazakh cosmonaut Aidyn Aimbetov and Danish astronaut Andreas Mogensen on board.
The trio enthusiastically floated through the hatch door of the ISS to joining the previous six astronauts in the ISS. One of the crew members, Andreas Mogensen, took Danish-made exercise bikes and 20 LEGO’s plastic figures into orbit.
Cosmonaut Aidyn Aimbetov and astronaut Andreas Mogensen are due for earth later this week along with veteran Russian cosmonaut Gennady Padalka, who has been working aboard the ISS since March. On return, the Russian cosmonaut will have racked up a total of 878 days in space.
While en route, the crew was advised by ballistics experts from Russia’s Mission Control and U.S. space agency NASA, to make a maneuver in order to avoid a collision with the third stage of a Japanese rocket launched in 1989.
