Jan 06, 2016 Yet in the movie world, The Ghana Movie Awards 2015 went down at the Accra International Conference Centre, Accra, Ghana on Wednesday December 30.
Winning big at the event was Netflix’s debut movie “Beast of No Nation”, which swept away 12 awards out of a whopping 15 nominations, with Idris Elba winning Best Actor in Supporting Role and Abraham Attah winning Best Actor in a Leading Role.
Other awards won by the movie include Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Directing, Best Picture, Best Sound Editing and Mixing, Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design and more.
Ghollywood actress Yvonne Nelson, who does not support the film’s nomination as a Ghanaian film due to its foreign crew and big budget, took to her social media to express her disappointment referring to the awards as a big joke.
Yvonne Nelson won “best Actress in a Leading Role” for her movie “If Tomorrow Never Comes” while Rebecca Acheampong won Best Actress in Supporting Role for the same movie.
Also winning an award for “If Tomorrow Never Comes” is Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon as Best Actor African Collaboration, while Nollywood actress Ini Edo won Best Actress African Collaboration for the movie “While You Slept”.
