Burundi celebrates release of prominent journalist

24th Feb 2015 Burundians have taken to the streets to celebrate the release of a prominent journalist, sometime after they took to the streets to protest his arrest. Citizens sang and danced in the country’s capital Bujumbura as Bob Rugurika, entered the city on Thursday the nineteenth after he was freed on bail.

Mr. Rugurika was arrested about a month ago after his station, African Public Radio, commonly known as RPA, broadcasted what seemed like the confession of a man who claimed to be one of the killers.

Authorities charged him with complicity and releasing confidential information and arrested him, prompting a wave of protests across a city not known for such strong anti government sentiments
