China pledges more aid to Liberia in post-Ebola recovery

Aug 13, 2015 Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has promised China’s full support in Liberia’s post-Ebola recovery.

The Foreign Minister made this offer during a meeting with Liberia’s President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in Monrovia. Support will include rebuilding the health system, deploying more medics and training local health workers.

In response President Sirleaf, expressed her gratitude to the Chinese government and said the practical action taken by China showed that China is a reliable friend of Liberia.

During the visit, the Chinese foreign minister met with his Liberian counterpart and further reiterated China’s willingness to push forward financial and technical assistance to Liberia, and stand together with Liberia to carry out more trilateral and multilateral cooperation with other countries.

The visit also featured a brief stopover at the Chinese embassy in Liberia and the Ebola treatment center built by China.
