Chinese president calls for boosting cooperation with Nigeria
Oct 02, 2015 Chinese President Xi Jinping recently met with his Nigerian counterpart Muhammadu Buhari in New York where he called for increased bilateral cooperation. The meeting occurred on the sidelines of the UN Submit in New York, where both leaders were in attendance.
Speaking at the event, the Chinese president said:
“China and Nigeria enjoy a traditional friendship and their strategic partnership featuring win-win cooperation has brought substantial benefits for their peoples”
President Xi also admonished that both countries should firmly hold on to the general direction of China-Nigeria friendship which will promote bilateral ties on a long-term basis.
“As next year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic ties between the two countries, China is willing to strengthen cooperation and exchanges in a wide range of areas with Nigeria, including politics, trade, investment, finance, agriculture, education, security, and international issues”
