June 30, 2015 At the 19th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia, China’s Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli urged all economies to strengthen cooperation for better global economic growth. In his speech, the Vice Premier noted that a global recovery is still in great uncertainty, and wants all economies to stick to embrace a win-win cooperation through increased policy coordination, opposing protectionism and working to develop a community of shared destiny and interests.
Vice Premier Zhang welcomed all countries to participate in the “Belt and Road” initiatives, referring to the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road initiative which was proposed in 2013 by Chinese President Xi Jinping. The initiative brings nations in Asia, Europe and Africa together via overland and maritime networks.
Zhang also talked about the 2016 G20 summit which will be hosted by his country, saying China will work to enable the summit play an important role in promoting global economic growth and maintaining stability of the international financial market.
The official referenced China’s cooperation with Russia, and added the interest of the two emerging economies to expand partnership in the sectors of energy, agriculture, high-speed railway, aviation, space, infrastructure and development of the Far East Region.
Others who attended the event include Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, and thousands of business persons and government officials from across the world.
