22nd Jan 2015 And in what surely portends great growth for another Nigerian sector, six foreign mining companies and the Dangote Group of Companies would start mining natural resources such as gold, iron ore, coal and lead/zinc this year, in an announcement made by Mr. Mohammed Amate, the Director-General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office.
The announcement was made on the 19th of January this year in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.
Mr Amate announced the other companies as Kogi Mines Ltd, Segilola Nig. Ltd and Mines, Geotechniques Nig. Ltd, Northern Numero Resources Ltd, West African Polaris Investment Ltd. and Tongyi Allied and Mineral Services Ltd.
He stated that so far, the companies had delineated more than one million ounces of gold in the area. Mr Amate also added that Dangote Industries would conclude its coal exploration in 2015 and was expected to immediately commence the mining of coal in Kogi and Benue.
He advised the miners to carry out their operations legally, pay their fees on time to the government and also reclaim sites after activities as required by the law. He especially warned the companies not to discharge any materials that could endanger lives into any environment.
