Dangote still interested in buying Arsenal.

May 8 , 2015 The richest man in Africa Aliko Dangote, has said he is still interested in buying Arsenal football club, and is working towards it. His bid to acquire a stake in the club was turned down by the owners in 2010, but Dangote, an avid arsenal fan, won’t quit.

Dangote expressed hope in a recent interview with Bloomberg TV, that his new plans would let him acquire the north London club at a tempting price that the owners could not refuse.

He is quoted as saying “I still hope, one day at the right price, that I’ll buy the team. I might buy it, not at a ridiculous price but a price that the owners won’t want to resist. I know my strategy,”

Dangote is rated to be worth $15.7bn, and has interests in cement, sugar and flour. He is quite sure that his new bid for Arsenal will likely come in a few years after he is done with current investments and has taken his business to a certain level.

If he succeeds with his new bid, Dangote will join the ranks of Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, and Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al Nahyan who are in control of Chelsea and Man city respectively. He will also be the first African to own an EPL club.
