EbonyLife TV goes 100% Homegrown.

TINAPA, CALABAR (DECEMBER 29, 2013) EbonyLife TV, Africa’s first Global Black Entertainment Network, has commenced its much awaited 100% homegrown entertainment programming, bringing closure to the modest number of hours the channel had hitherto dedicated to the broadcast of acquired western content, and thereby heralding a new viewing experience loaded with the best of homegrown African entertainment.

This development is in being consistent with the channel’s vision, which is to be the preferred global network for premium African entertainment through the creation and broadcast of original, homegrown and premium content.

In addition to the channel going 100% homegrown, a brand new, must-see drama will be showing on the channel every new week. This means viewers can sit back, relax and continue to enjoy all the great “Global Black” entertainment shows they have come to love on the channel while bracing up for new, non-stop and refreshing drama series, enthralling sitcoms, engaging pan-Africa talk shows, fresh outstanding home-grown reality shows, musical video chart show countdowns and many more.

The channel’s homegrown programming continues to cut across the broadest vista of entertainment content, including music, lifestyle, film, drama, talk, factual, comedy, magazine, reality, fashion and even sports.

There is so much to love about the new and exciting homegrown programme line up which came into effect on January 01, 2014.

In “The Banky& Tiwa Show” (Tuesday 9:30pm), two remarkable artistes and iconic celebrities come together, outside of their regular forte of music, to do something totally different and mind blowing as they and their often electrifying guests deal with random controversial and street-wise issues that a lot of people are too scared to talk about.

“Squatterz” (Thursday 11:00pm), is a riveting drama revolving around four guys with huge characters and differing backgrounds who have to live with each other’s differences when they end up sharing an apartment as a result of problems encountered in their previous individual accommodations.

Viewers are poised for the best of comedy with “AY’s Crib” (Wednesday 11:pm), a sitcom that tells the story of a younger version of AY the comedian who lives in a house with two of his friends from the university, a distant cousin from Warri who serves as his gateman, while dating a rich, spoilt girl.

“Car Hire” (Mondays to Fridays 9:30pm), is a fascinating drama series of crime and humour in which a young man’s taxi cab is his everything, including workplace and home. His favourite radio station is his best companion as he battles against losing his prized possession to higher purchase loan sharks.

In “Shop Naija” (Sunday 8:30pm), viewers can pour themselves some juice, put their feet up and shop for great quality products and services in comfort and convenience, right in front of their television screens. Life surely doesn’t get any cozier than that!

“Deadline” (Monday to Friday 8:00pm) tells the story of how Isabel Olu-Williams, United States of America returnee and new Chief Executive of ECHO – a failing newspaper publishing outfit inherited from her late father – now has the onerous task of helping the paper regain its popularity and recognition with the market.

“EL Reports” (Monday to Friday 7:50pm) continues with the latest African headlines, with positive and up-to-date news from around the continent and the globe that focus on progressive, upbeat and human interest angles.

All these and more, plus the never-to-be-missed flagship programmes like Moments with Mo (Mondays to Fridays 8:30pm), EL Now (Monday to Friday 7:00pm), The Spot (Monday to Friday 7:30pm), Love Lounge (10:00pm), Culture Connects (Tuesday 10:00pm), Screen Divas (Mondays 9:30pm) and much more, continue to reinforce the position of EbonyLife TV as the new face and home of original African entertainment, bringing viewers the best homegrown content with a deep African soul.

Broadcasting on DStv channel 165, EbonyLife TV continues to gain increasing popularity for showcasing the best of Africa for a Global Black audience and continues to live up to the expectations of its viewers in over 44 African countries and global black followers around the globe, while thriving as the platform for premium African entertainment striving towards empowering Africa rise to its place on the international stage as a media and entertainment powerhouse.
