Also during the visit to Athens, President al-Sisi attended a trilateral meeting between Greece, Cyprus and Egypt.

President Sisi also spoke of the long standing relation between Egypt and Greece that go back thousands of years.

“We understand the Greek philosophy and they understand ours, the Egyptian philosophy, and therefore we are capable of understanding each other and communicating with each other where it is required. Also speaking after the meeting, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said:

“Two countries with an important geopolitical role, in a fragile and destabilized region where three continents meet, are joining forces targeting peace and prosperity… It is crucial to find a peaceful solution through diplomatic routes in the Syrian crisis and to lay the foundation for reconciliation and democracy within the country. (It is crucial) to have a political solution in Libya for the formation of a unity government there, and the need to effectively combat terrorism which based on religious fundamentalism is spreading,”
