Facebook to Host its First Creative Shop Hackathon on the African continent on September 18.

2nd Sep 2014 And for our geek freaks in the house, Ventures Africa informs us that social media platform Facebook will on September 18 host its first Creative Shop Hackathon on the African continent.

The workshop, will hold as part of Loeries Creative Week in Cape Town and is designed specifically for young creative designers with one to two years of experience.

Rob Newlan, Head of Facebook Creative Shop Europe, Middle East and Africa, is overseeing the Hackathon and explains that Facebook aims to use the workshop to show how “social media allows brands and creatives to play a powerful and positive role in people’s lives by engaging with them in imaginative ways.”

In addition to the hackathon, there will also be an educational session showcasing award winning work as well as the latest developments from Facebook HQ on tools and systems being developed specifically for Africa.

Sounds interesting! We will be looking forward to seeing how it all goes.
