FIFA Ranking: Nigeria Goes Down while Congo Pushes up the List
22nd Sep 2014 Due to a poor start at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations this month, Nigeria’s super eagles has dropped in world football governing body FIFA’s ranking. The team lost 3-2 to Congo in Calabar before playing out a goalless draw with South Africa in Cape Town. Congo’s victories over Nigeria and Sudan pushed them up 30 places to occupy 48th spot, the highest position ever attained by the southern African nation.
Nigeria are now the sixth highest-ranked African nation, as Senegal, Tunisia and Ghana gained 23, 11 and three places respectively to go past Nigeria on the world rankings. Here’s hoping the Super eagles bounce back in good time, and better too.
