“FIFTY” catches world attention few days after premiere. Less than a week after its premiere, Ebonylife Films’ presentation “fifty” has literally become huge sensation. The movie recently premiered at the BFI film festival in London amidst huge fanfare. Speaking during the red carpet, Mo Abudu, the movie’s executive producer said: “Fifty is in the love category of the film festival…and my rose represents love….I love my mum…” With great review from movie lovers and critics, “Fifty” is taking social media by storm. Viva Naija, a popular UK-based blog, was full of praises for the movie. On its review, the blog said: “There was already a lot of hype surrounding FIFTY even before I went to view it: it is no small feat being selected by the BFI under the ‘love category’, and the trailer was certainly very polished and intriguing. This alone made me a tad nervous: I have been here before – all hyped up with satisfactory finish – so I was deliberately trying to remind myself to be cautious. I needn’t have bothered; FIFTY is a triumph – both as a standalone piece and as a Nollywood effort” After the premiere, Mo Abudu sat down with BBC's Simon McCoy to share her determination to tell the African story from its proper perspective. “I remember a few years ago, while hosting Moment with Mo…I could be as traditional as I want to be, but I could also go out there and do what women globally are doing” When asked about the reception of the film by non-African audience, Mo said: “We’ve had two screening at the London film festival…it was mainly a white audience and the applause at the end was overwhelming…
