Nollywood heavyweights, Richard Mofe-Damijo and Dakore Egbuson-Akande lead one-of-a-kind production, scheduled to air in 2018
Lagos, 16 November 2017 – The shooting of a new television show, Castle & Castle has begun. Starring two titans of the Nigerian film industry, Richard Mofe-Damijo and Dakore Egbuson-Akande, it is largely about the story of a gorgeous married couple, ‘Remi Castle’ and her husband ‘Tega’ – lawyers who run a successful practice in Lagos.
A former law professor, ‘Tega’ is passionate about human rights. However, as the years have gone by and the nature of the firm has changed, he has had to fight extra-hard to get such cases. ‘Remi’ is a beautiful, brilliant woman who loves her husband, but they have different legal interests – she prefers clients that have deep pockets and pay massive retainers. They met 20 years ago when he taught her in law school.
Their marriage is put to the test, as a host of family issues crop up and affect their work. Viewers will see the couple band together against outsiders and fight each other when their individual desires clash. Will their marriage survive Castle & Castle or will it succumb to the pressures of their work environment?
Casting top Nollywood actors as the lead characters in this drama is a bold move by the producers and reflects the current trend in Hollywood, where A-list movie actors are switching to television and creating blockbuster series in the process. It remains to be seen if other Nigerian TV producers will follow suit, but audiences will be thrilled with the quality of this series.
According to producer Temidayo Abudu, “Castle & Castle is the first of its kind in Nigeria. It is a pleasure to see the concept coming to life and we look forward to showing the finished product next year. Working with such a professional cast and crew is making the filming process quite smooth. We hope that viewers will get hooked on this complex and interesting show.”
Castle & Castle is directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, Tope Oshin and Kenneth Gyang. It is exclusive to EbonyLife TV, DStv 165 and is scheduled for release in July 2018.
