22nd Sep 2014 Amidst cheers and excitement, the first edition of the Genevieve pink ball foundation run/walk/cycle for breast cancer was held last week. The event is in line with the one hundred patient challenge which is mostly about awareness creation, education, and importantly, giving hope to the otherwise hopeless.
Founder and C.E.O of Genevieve Magazine, Betty Irabor in explaining the motivation behind the exercise, is quoted as saying “In Nigeria the majority of women diagnosed with breast cancer do not survive because their cancer is detected too late. Awareness is the First Step in the battle Against Breast Cancer. Herein lies our motivation to lend our platform Genevieve Pink Ball to the cause. Our ‘100 patient challenge’ is all about further Awareness Creation, Education and giving hope to the otherwise hopeless; treatment for 100 may seem an insignificant number but it’s a good start.”
Some spotted faces at the event were our own EbonyLife TV belles, Bolanle Olukanni and Zainab Balogun. Seyi Shay, Genevieve Nnaji, Funke Akindele and Betty Irabor were also present, in addition to other beautiful people.
