Ghana organises stakeholders meeting ahead of district polls

26th Feb 2015 The National Commission for Civic Education in Ghana recently organized a stakeholders’ meeting in Shama district, with the main aim of mobilizing the voting population to freely participate in the district level elections coming up on the 3rd of March.

During the meeting, Mr. Enoch Kojo Appiah, the Chief Executive of Shama district, appealed to the electorate to vote for Persons with Disability who are, or will be contesting any political office. Mr. Enoch Appiah noted that persons with disabilities can serve the country at different levels and sectors in the government. He also encouraged women to embrace politics because they are in a better position to solve the plight of women. Mr. Appiah also took the chance to appeal to the political candidates and their supporters, to avoid trading abusive languages with contemporaries in their campaigns.

The event saw institutions and bodies such as assembly members, persons with physical challenges, women groups, youth associations, the media and other stakeholders present.
