Giza Pyramids lit up in solidarity with victims of Paris attacks

Nov 20, 2015 Egypt’s historical pyramids were recently lit with the colors of the French flag to show solidarity with the victims of the Paris terror attacks.

Several ministers, government officials, ambassadors of foreign countries as well as ordinary citizens, gathered to pay tribute to the victims who were killed in the Paris attacks.

The Great Pyramid of Khufu, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world, was also illuminated with the colors of the Russian flag in honor of the 224 victims who were killed in a plane crash over Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

The Lebanese flag was also projected on the Pyramid in tribute to the victims of a recent terror attacks that left at least 43 people killed in Beirut.

The event, which was organized by Egypt’s ministries of tourism and antiquities, aimed to deliver a message of solidarity from the North African country to the innocent lives that have been lost around the world recently.

Speaking at the event, Mamdouh El Damaty, Egypt’s Antiquities Minister said:

“There is ISIS terrorism in France and Lebanon at same time. We are standing in solidarity with the victims and the martyrs against all inhumane procedures or violations against sacred human souls,”

Khaled Fahmy, Egyptian Environment Minister also said:

“We are standing in front of the pyramids to show solidarity and resistance like the pyramid and God willing we will bury these terrorists in a different pyramid, because pyramids are tombs, and we will cleanse the earth from terrorists,”
