Sep 9, 2015 Lewis Hamilton recently won the Italian Grand Prix to take a 53-point lead in the Formula One championship after Mercedes teammate and closest rival Nico Rosberg’s car went up in flames.
The Briton had faced a post-race steward’s enquiry for low tyre pressures at the start, with the possibility of a time penalty being imposed. However, the sport’s governing body later confirmed that there will be no further actions against Hamilton.
While addressing the crowd at the podium ceremony, Hamilton said: “I mean, look at this crowd, it’s incredible, unbelievable fans here. I couldn’t have done it without my team. This team is just remarkable and what we’ve achieved together is so special. I’m incredibly grateful to them for really working so hard through the weekend through last week, through the whole year to give me the car that I have today and these guys (Vettel and Massa) also did a great job.”
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel took second place, finished 25 seconds behind the reigning world champion.
“Wow, look at this, this says it all. Thank you Ferrari fans, thank you, this year has been incredible, on behalf of all the team, thank you.”
Brazilian Felipe Massa came third for Williams, crossing the line 0.3 of a second ahead of his Finnish team mate Valtteri Bottas.
