Ibinabo Fiberesima faces 5-year jail term

Mar 14, 2016 Nollywood actress and former beauty queen Ibinabo Fiberesima has been sentenced to five years in jail for the manslaughter of Giwa Suraj, a Lagos State Hospital member of staff whom she ran into in a car accident on Lekki-Epe Express way in February 2006.

Ibinabo, who was accused of reckless driving was previously offered an option of N100,000 fine for the offence by a Magistrate court, only to have the Lagos High court replace the fine option with a five-year jail term on the grounds that the magistrate court had exercised judicial recklessness to have given Ibinabor the option of fine.

The Nollywood actress has taken to social media to ask Nigerians to pray for her, as she sets her eyes on appealing her judgment to the Supreme Court as her final hope.
