Indonesia celebrates 70th anniversary of independence

Aug 20, 2015 Indonesia recently marked its 70th independence from Dutch colonial rule with a state ceremony at the national palace.

The ceremony was led by President Joko Widodo, the country’s seventh president since gaining independence in 1945, and saw the president inspecting the guard of honor, Air Force and Navy in a solemn ceremony attended by Indonesian ministers and foreign dignitaries at the palace.

That was followed by a flag raising ceremony and concluded with an air force display over the palace in central Jakarta.
