Japan PM addresses parliament

Jan 06, 2016 Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe recently addressed the lower house of parliament with a progress report on foreign policy from the previous year.

He also spoke on Japan’s role in 2016, as it gears up to host the G7 leaders’ summit.

While addressing parliament, Prime Abe said:

“This year we will further our national interests in the economic and security fronts. We will work closely with the world and take a lead in facing the various issues the international community faces,”

He also gave a positive remark regarding the outlook for Japan/China relations.

“The Japan-China relationship is based on a strategic and mutually beneficial relationship and it is currently improving. We have agreed that this is necessary to improve upon this concretely and have agreed to additional foreign ministerial level visits and high level economic dialogues to be set as early as possible,”
