07 Mar 2014 Founder of Kanu Heart Foundation Kanu Nwankwo has undergone corrective heart surgery at the Cleveland Hospital, Ohio in the United States of America.
However, fans and well-wishers can heave a sigh of relief as the surgery has been confirmed to be successful. Co-ordinator of the Kanu Heart Foundation, Pastor Onyebuchi Abia confirmed this, adding that the former Super Eagles captain has since left the intensive care unit, ICU, of the hospital.
Pastor Abia is quoted as saying “He’ll be back home in a few days time. I spoke with him Sunday afternoon and he confirmed he’s in a stable condition”. The Cleveland hospital is the same one where Kanu Nwankwo had his surgery 17 years ago following the discovery of a congenital heart defect, and it was carried out following a routine annual medical check.
