Kenya's Garissa University set to open nine months after deadly attack
Jan 13, 2016 Garissa University College in northeast Kenya recently reopened its doors for academic activities; nine months after 147 students were killed in a brutal assault by al-Qaeda linked al-Shabaab Islamist militants.
Since the Garissa raid, the militant group has orchestrated several smaller attacks along the northern coast of the country.
However, with an increased military onslaught, the group has retreated into the Boni forest, which is a large sanctuary for elephants.
