Keshi agrees to a new contract

28th April 2015 53-year-old Stephen Keshi is ready for a fresh start as he has agreed to a new two-year contract to coach Nigeria’s national men’s football team. Now we can actually move on to better things in our football and it seems that Keshi feels the same way, especially with his comment at the official signing ceremony, that any lingering bitterness needed to be put in the past.

Keshi is quoted as saying “This is the time for us to come together to fight for this nation, I am begging you all to please put the past behind and let’s start afresh.”

His previous 3 year contract expired after last year’s World Cup in Brazil, and the process to renegotiation has been filled with controversy, accusations and counter accusations.

All that is in the past now, and the NFF’s technical committee chairman Felix Anyansi-Agwu has described Keshi’s second coming as “a new beginning”.

He said to reporters that “The entire NFF board has absolute confidence in the capacity of Stephen Keshi to take the Super Eagles to new heights,”
