Maradona undergoes gastric bypass, recovering well – doctors
Nov 18, 2015 Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona recently underwent a gastric bypass surgery in Venezuela and according to doctors, he is recovering well.
Speaking about his recovery, Carlos Chaux, a Surgeon at Falcon Clinic where the surgery was carried out, said:
“Everything came out well. He’s walking and in good spirirts. Diego is perfect, excellent; there are no problems.”
The 55-year-old former World Cup winner went through a similar operation about a decade ago and has battled with ill health since his retirement from soccer.
Maradona, who had been suggested by Nicolas Maduro as a good fit for the FIFA presidency, was put on a 12-day recovery period at the hospital.
Dr Carlos Chaux went on to say:
“Recovery is very quick, however, he will have to stay in Venezuela for some time while he finishes recovering.”
