Mayor of Paris visits the future Olympic village for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic
March 02, 2016 Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, recently visited Tokyo to inspect the site of the future Olympic Village for the 2020 Games while gathering information ahead of her bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics in the French capital.
During the site inspection, she was accompanied by Governor of Tokyo, Yoichi Masuzoe, Hidalgo and President of Île-de-France Region Valérie Pécresse.
Speaking after the visit, Hidalgo said:
“Many things we saw today are quite useful for us. I decided to make an inspection today as I would like to learn what and how to prepare for the 2020 Olympic Games aiming at hosting the 2024 Olympic Games,”
With the race to stage the 2024 Olympic Games officially underway, Masuzoe expressed his support for Paris’ bid for the 2024 Games saying:
“Paris and Tokyo are sister cities so I would like to support Paris to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games following Tokyo,”
