Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) Expands Admission to Nigerian Student Entrpreneurs.

4 June 2014 And if you’re a techie or looking to become a tech entrepreneur, you should listen to this scoop from TechCabal. The Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology is an organization based in Accra, Ghana that provide fully sponsored 2-year training for aspiring African tech entrepreneurs. The company has since 2008, restricted admissions to Ghanaian citizens but has now expressed its interest in expanding admission to Nigerian student entrepreneurs.

Katie Sarro, Director of Business Development at MEST is quoted as saying “Nigeria has proven to be an attractive move for multinational tech giants and start-up accelerators and incubators alike…Even more telling and relevant for high tech startups is the fact that nearly 90% of households in Nigeria own a mobile phone and reports show that the country will be a global leader in mobile payment adoption by 2017.”

Ms Sarro added that the MEST programme was expanding into Nigeria in order to provide the most competitive environment for our students. She referred to Nigeria’s vibrant and growing middle class of consumers, fast-moving economy and tech friendly youthful population as factors that would give their startups immediate access to a much wider market, which would in turn translate into higher growth opportunities.

The programme is open to Nigerian graduates from all backgrounds, in Techcabal’s words – mobile maniacs, tech geeks, brilliant coders and collaborators – who are passionate about software and entrepreneurship.
