Nigerian and Chinese Scientists Completes a 9 Day Exploration of Nigeria's Waters Unearthing Some Treasures.

4th Aug 2014 A Chinese scientific research ship Ocean One, has recently completed a 9 day exploration of Nigeria’s waters with a combined team of Nigerian and Chinese scientists. The ship unearthed and displayed some of Nigeria’s treasures, including a rare crab specie and an undersea rock. This is the first time that a Chinese research team will lead an operation in an African country’s exclusive economic zone. An official with the Chinese Ocean Mineral Resources Resource and Development Association has noted that the voyage is one way of boosting marine cooperation between both countries with the addition that the voyage has given both countries a deeper understanding of Nigerian underwater conditions and areas that will need further attention.

Nigeria is also pretty excited about the new relationship, with Emmanuel A. Ajao, the acting executive director of Nigerian Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research (NIOMR) saying that the successful scientific joint research program will benefit both countries and the world.
