Nigeria’s Super Falcons prepares for a 2nd leg show down with Rwanda.
3 June 2014 It’s World Cup season but don’t think that the Super Eagles are the only ones out to do Nigeria proud. Following their 4 – 1 victory in the first leg, Nigeria’s Super Falcons and 6 time AWC Champions are preparing for a 2nd leg show down with Rwanda as part of qualifiers for the African Women’s Championship holding in Namibia later this year.
Head coach Edwin Okon has affirmed the team’s determination to excel, stating that the team would not be complacent, but would approach the game as if their lives depended on it.
Other African nations are not taking things calmly either. For the first leg of games, Senegal held Cameroon to a 1-1 draw, Equatorial Guinea also played to a one-all draw with Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria beat Tunisia 2-1 and South Africa scored an unbelievable 13 goals in their game against Comoros.
The African Women’s Championship will hold in Namibia from October 11 – 25 2014. The championship will also serve as a qualifier for the 2015 Fifa Women’s World Cup, with the top three sides qualifying for the finals in Canada
