Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o acquires rights to shoot Chimamanda’s ‘Americanah’.

2 June 2014 Is Kenyan Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong’o wrapping her hands around a film adaptation of Chimamanda’s Americanah?

Well, apparently, yes. The Hollywood actress last Thursday acquired the right to the movie of “Americanah”. She made the announcement at the Stylist Magazine’s Book Club in London.

Lupita gushed that she now has the full rights to turn the bestseller into a movie – much like Chimamanda’s other work Half of A Yellow Sun which premiered globally this year except in Nigeria.

Americanah is about a Nigerian woman who migrates from Nigeria to America for university education, the role which we can safely assume Lupita Nyong’o would play in the movie – hopefully.

We’re watching you Lupita!
