Beginning on February 28, some of the most popular series produced by EbonyLife TV will be streamed on Roku for audiences in the United States, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, and France. This is an exciting development for fans of hit series such as, The Governor, Sons of the Caliphate, Dowry, Married to the Game, and On the Real. The move is in response to requests from Africans living abroad, who are unable to view EbonyLife TV on regular broadcast channels or who would prefer to be in complete control of their viewing.
The complete first series of each show will be available, satisfying the longings of binge viewers who like to watch several episodes at once, rather than waiting to see what happens in the following installments. All five series tell modern African stories, infused with high production values. The Governor delighted viewers across the continent with its realistic portrayal of the personal challenges and political intrigue faced by Nigeria’s first female state governor; while Sons of the Caliphate looks behind the veil of Nigeria’s secretive northern elite, as three friends become rivals to achieve high political office. With just hours to go before his wedding, a groom disappears, in Dowry; in Married to the Game, newlyweds have their dreams shattered when they run over a stranger on the way from their wedding reception; and On the Real shows the real-life adventures of a group of young reality TV stars.
