9th Sep 2014 Another must attend event is the Port Harcourt international Fashion Week, tagged – “Native and Vogue”. It is an assembly of top designers and models across Africa, to celebrate the totality of African Fashion.
Native and Vogue has a number of reasons for its existence, first, it showcases established designers, and then, it also grooms emerging designers and showcase established designers. Its plan is to drive and grow the local fashion industry into sustainable globally competitive brands. It is also working to develop the Nigerian tourism sector, as more African designers are infusing African themes and materials into their work. Pretty cool huh.
And if you’re a budding designer, you know, doing your thing and dreaming of your big break, Native and Vogue has a Young Designers competition for you. Send in your entries, they must be original, creative and unique in style and you might just get to win a scholarship to an international fashion school. So go on and dig out that design, that “if only” one that you just know is guaranteed to be a hit.
So, for all you lovers of fashion or stakeholders in the industry, plan to be at the Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt, from the 19th of September to the 21st of September.
