30th Jan 2014 – Development Diaries tells us, that Cape Town-based South African Education and Environment Project (SAEP) has received a prestigious Impact Award from the STARS Foundation at a ceremony at Kensington Palace in London.
The awards recognise and reward effective, well-managed local organisations working to improve child health, education, protection water, sanitation and hygiene.
We are told that in 2013, more than 1300 local organisations from 60 countries entered for the Impact Awards, and winners were selected through a process developed by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. The prizes included $50,000 of unrestricted funding, $20,000 in tailored consultancy and a package of media support.
SAEP, which works to improve access to and quality of education for children and youth living in some of South Africa’s poorest townships, received the 2013 STARS Runner up Award for Education in Africa/Middle East.
