Russia trying to help athletes compete in 2016 Olympics, says former athlete

Nov 24, 2015 Russia’s athletics federation is taking steps to ensure that its athletes take part in the 2016 Summer Olympics as the country continues efforts to reform its anti-doping operations.

According to former Russian athlete Olga Bogoslovskaya, the decision by the International Association of Athletics Federation to ban Russian track and field athletes from competing in international competition has led to other setbacks for the country.

Speaking during an interview, Bogoslovskaya said:

“We are working on a lot of things. First of all, we accept the requirements from the IAAF as well as anti-doping associations, and we have set up a committee for the incident. The members from the committee are not only governmental officials from the sports department but also people familiar with track and field. In the meantime, the IAAF has also established a special group to evaluate the doping issue in the next 60 days, and we will cooperate closely with the group. We will try our best to help athletes without doping problems take part in the 2016 Olympic Games,”
